The Opportunity
Our recent expansion into the North American energy markets marks a significant chapter in our growth. Here, we’re leveraging vast and diverse energy market data to fuel our quantitative, data-driven trading strategies. Our vision is clear: replicate the proven success we’ve achieved in European markets within North America.
To realize this vision, we’re looking for an outstanding software engineer with experience in machine learning to join our Tech team. In this pivotal role, you’ll design, build, and maintain the critical software and infrastructure that powers our quantitative trading initiatives, with a special focus on the North American energy markets. To be successful, you’d thrive at the intersection of data, machine learning model development, and software engineering, and have a proven record of building software that operates with high reliability in critical or highly regulated industries.
If this sounds like you, then have a look at this exciting opportunity at CET, a rapidly growing technology-driven energy trading company based out of Copenhagen.
Core Responsibilities
You’ll:
- Engineer core trading systems: Design and develop reliable, scalable, and efficient Python-based software that directly powers our internal trading systems and quantitative model-based trading strategies.
- Develop new and existing ML models: Contribute to the development and improvement of machine learning models directly used for trading on the North American markets, impacting company revenue.
- Architect data infrastructure: Build and deploy fault-tolerant storage solutions and data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and serving diverse data to our models. Work with various data sources and ensure high quality data, driving trading decisions.
- Champion Data & MLOps best practices: Drive the development and implementation of MLOps practices, processes, and tools designed to streamline the entire model lifecycle. Improve experiment tracking, deployment, monitoring, and serving models in production.
- Shape our tech stack: Play a key role in evaluating, proposing, and integrating new technologies and tools to continuously enhance our internal platforms, with a particular focus on infrastructure supporting our model development and execution.
- Grow with the best: Learn from and build with seasoned software developers and analysts who build our internal platforms for data and analytics, asset management and algorithmic trade execution. You’ll be an integral part of the team that values technical mastery, rigorous problem-solving, and continuous learning.
- Become an energy market expert: Gain deep knowledge of the critical energy industry and electricity markets, in which the Nordics have a long tradition of leadership, and where technical excellence is the decisive factor in our company’s long-term success.
Qualifications and Experience
We are seeking a candidate with a strong technical background, whoever they are. The following should be read as a wish list for our ideal candidate, keeping in mind that drive and competency can replace any specific qualifications and prior experience. We value diverse backgrounds and new perspectives.
- Education: A degree with a strong technical focus, e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other relevant fields. We welcome excellence regardless of the level of qualification.
- Software experience: Proven expertise in designing and developing software that is not only functional but also production-ready. Skill in designing clean, scalable, and tested code while contributing to broader software engineering best practices. A strong command of Python, as we are a Python house. Experience with Git, code reviews, and CI/CD.
- Quantitative skills: Solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, and probability, relevant to modeling and quantitative analysis.
- Experience with machine learning concepts: Proven experience with machine learning concepts, including the full lifecycle of models, and a track record of designing and building models from inception to deployment. Big plus if that experience covers models specifically for trading strategies.
- Familiarity with cloud Platforms: Some proficiency with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP, including their data and machine learning services.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with full professional proficiency in English.
- Energy Market Knowledge: A genuine interest in learning about energy markets and systems. If you already have that domain knowledge, then that is a big plus.
