Join Our Team at Copenhagen Energy Trading
We’re expanding our Tech Team at Copenhagen Energy Trading. We are seeking platform engineers with a software development background, preferably in Python, and with experience in making critical technological choices, designing, and implementing data stores and pipelines, and producing high-quality software with a keen focus on delivering value.
If your skills and interests align with this opportunity, and you’re excited about working for a company dedicated to the energy transition, consider applying for this exciting opportunity at Copenhagen Energy Trading.
As a young and rapidly expanding energy trading firm, we welcome candidates with varying levels of experience. So don’t hesitate to apply if you only have a few years under your belt.
About The Role
As a Platform Engineer, you’ll be joining our Tech Team that is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the critical infrastructure and platform services powering our analytics and many of our business functions.
You will get to develop resilient front-end and back-end applications, understand and codify complex business logic, automate tests, define infrastructure-as-code and workflow deployments declaratively – and much more, but everything as code. We are a bunch of Pythonistas, but we’re also flexible and open towards other languages, if needed.
What is especially intriguing about this role is the direct impact your contributions can have on the improvement of our trading operations. You will be seated close to your trading colleagues, which makes it easy to collaborate and share new ideas on how we can make our solutions even better.
The position will be based at our headquarters located in the district of Carlsberg City in Central Copenhagen.
Responsibilities
- Software: Design and implement scalable, reliable, and efficient software solutions, including data pipelines for ingesting and transforming data. Help set and follow software best practices to influence the way we build, document, review and test our software. You must be a fighter of technical debt in code bases.
- Infrastructure & Cloud: Work on enhancing our platform infrastructure spanning the entire data lifecycle from ingestion and data transformation to machine-learning model management and reporting. We are cloud-native and run on Azure. You and the team are responsible for developing and securing our cloud infrastructure.
- Automation & DevOps: Automate processes and optimize DevOps practices to streamline development and deployment environments.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure security, performance, and compliance standards in everything we do.
- Containerization: Leverage containerization for deploying our applications, while ensuring the reliability and security of the containerized applications throughout their lifecycle.
- Analysis: Conduct various ad hoc analyses to assist in decision-making processes. Often, this will involve running proof-of-concept experiments on new technologies and tools to enhance the platform’s capabilities.
- Support: Participate in on-call rotations for platform support and maintenance, assisting in troubleshooting platform-related issues, and occasionally addressing other technology-related concerns within the company.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: A master’s or bachelor’s degree with a strong technological basis, e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other relevant fields.
- Software Development Experience: Proven proficiency in crafting Python software solutions that are not only functional but also production ready. Ideally, your experience should encompass managing challenges related to scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Python Proficiency: A strong command of Python programming language is a must. If Event loops, context managers, type-hints and generators are all parts of your vocabulary, then that is awesome.
- DevOps and Deployment: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes) is advantageous. You should be comfortable deploying applications to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. Big plus, if you have experience in achieving parity between production, staging and dev.
- Database Skills: Some experience with database design, development, and optimization, preferably with PostgreSQL would be great.
- Communication Skills: Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with full professional proficiency in English.
- Electricity markets: A genuine interest in learning about electricity markets.
- Technology–enthusiast: A strong enthusiasm for staying up to date with emerging technologies is like icing on the cake.
